Intensive sugarcane farming coupled with over irrigation and imbalance use of fertilizers is amounting to Increasing levels of salinity in agricultural land. We witness this unwelcome phenomenon in the vicinity of Krishna and Warna rivers which is threatening the agricultural economy of India’s most prosperous district – Kolhapur known only after Mumbai for highest per capita income.
